*Perspective* [05 Oct 2008|08:06pm]
[ mood | blah ]

Sometimes it helps to really look at who you are and what you are doing to become who you want to be.

It seems in our hetic lives we get consumed with the influence others can have on us. It's up to us to overcome these obstagles.

Pride [14 Sep 2008|08:08am]
[ mood | tired ]

Riverside had it’s first gay pride celebration yesterday. I had a blast. It was pretty much what I expected but I was still amazed by the people. From the tattoos, the men in drag, or the style of dress, I felt like I should be taking pictures of everything I was seeing. There was also a performance by RuPaul!

I still feel a bit boos-logged but luckily no hangover.

Parking Citation Saga [09 Sep 2008|05:47pm]
[ mood | annoyed ]

On 07/31 I received a parking ticket at wonderful CSUSB for $35. Naturally I was furious!

I had already purchased a parking permit at the beginning of summer classes for just $10 more.

I don’t know about you but I HATE having stuff dangle from my review mirror and had my permit safely in my glove box, needless to say I wasn’t willing to pay for my forgetfulness.

On 08/13 I submitted a petition to parking services to waive the fee. I made sure all my ducks were in a row, including a copy of my parking permit and receipt with all the necessary citation documentation.

To my surprise I received a speedy response on my petition on 08/16. Instead of the $35 fee I needed to pay $10 for “Failure to Properly Display”. That was fine with me.

Within the next week I took my payment over to parking services and put it in the drop box. Nervous about leaving anything in any sort of “drop box” I called the following day to make sure it was received. I was ASSURED the payment would be retrieved that afternoon.

I thought the issue was CLOSED.

Last Thursday it occurred to me the $10 check hadn’t cleared my account. I made several phone calls to “parking services” over the next few business days and was unable to get a hold of anyone.

Today I was determined to get this resolved. I made about 10 phone calls and spoke to several people and left messages EVERYWHERE.

I was first told there was no record of my citation in the system under my student ID number. I conveniently didn’t have my citation number.

The second time I called I was told the system was down and they asked me to call back in a hour.

The third time I called I was told the system showed I OWED a balance of $50. When I overreacted I was then assured they were changing over systems and my current information was probably on the new system. This person (of course) didn’t have access to the new system. ALL I WANTED TO KNOW IS IF THEY RECEIVED MY CHECK!

When I called back later with citation number in hand I was FINALLY told what was really going on….

It turns out the parking services office was remodeled, and in the chaos the key from the drop box had been lost. They of course didn’t want to admit this to me but finally realized I would keep calling and harassing them until I got some straight answers. The assured me if my payment was in the drop box I wouldn’t be charged any late fees.

They are in the process of getting a key made….doesn’t that usually take an hour?
